Early life and education
Judge Skavdahl graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1989 receiving his Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming School of Law in 1992. [2]
Professional career
In 1992, Judge Skavdahl joined the law firm of Brown, Drew & Massey, LLP as an associate attorney. In 1994, he accepted a law clerk position with William F. Downes who was the United States District Judge for the District of Wyoming. In 1997 Skavdahl joined the law firm of Williams, Porter, Day & Neville, P.C. working in civil litigation in Casper, Wyoming. As a partner in the firm, his practice focused on civil litigation. He was appointed a Part-Time United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Wyoming in 2001 and in July of 2003, he was appointed by Governor Freudenthal to the Seventh Judicial District, where he served until January 31, 2010. Judicial career

On February 16, 2011, President Barack Obama nominated Scott W. Skavdahl the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming to fill the seat vacated by William F. Downes.[3][4] President Obama commented on the nomination, stating, "I am honored to nominate these distinguished individuals to serve on the United States District Court bench,” said President Obama. “They have both demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice throughout their careers, and I am confident they will continue to serve the American people with integrity."[4] Skavdahl was rated Unanimously Well Qualified by the ABA. He had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary committee on July 13, 2011 and you can find his Committee Questionnaire Available Here and his Questions for the Record Available Here.[5] He was reported by the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 8, 2011.
He was confirmed on November 3, 2011 with a Senate voice vote.
