Dear Bruce Grant:
I was surfing with Alta Vista and you came in right behind Britannica in my
search for occurrences of "noosphere". You have a keen (and passionate)
sense of graphical design. For some time now, I have wanted to launch a
project which assembles good graphical renditions of the noosphere. In
fact, I even went to far as to register "The Noosphere Project" as a
trademark. What do you say we team up to attract lots of bees with the best
honey? I am thinking now that the ONLY way to go is paperless tOOOOtally.
My first contribution is Father Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's essay "The
Formation of the Noosphere." He could foresee it long before he passed away
in 1958 (he got all excited about computing machines capable of
Kilocycles/second!). On the assumption that you can handle attached files
no-prob (many of my netbuds can't), see NOOSPHER.EXE, a self-extracting
archive file. BTW, I had some problem with the Netscape mail sender and I
couldn't tell if it was sending multiple copies of my previous mail, or not
sending any at all; so, if this note is repetitious, please forgive me. On
a more serious side, we are engaged in some rather heavy litigation (and
fund raising) which would benefit enormously from a well designed home page,
and also some attractive letterhead. To begin, it would be good to keep it
black on white, so we can exploit the fax/laser/xerox medium. We have many
materials in word processor format, including two law suit briefs (one to
Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, one to the U.S. Supreme Court). It all
began when a woman we know was passing out political leaflets on the steps
of a court house, and she was arrested for jury tampering! That was 5 years
ago, and now she is confronting the doctrine of "judicial immunity" before
the Supreme Court. "The times they are a changin." Respondez vous, s'il
vous plait.
