"C.J."   means "Corpus Juris"          (Body of Law, in Latin)
"C.J.S." means "Corpus Juris Secundum" (Body of Law, second edition)

Corpus    = body (as in corporal punishment)
Juris     = law  (as in jurist, juror, de jure, sui juris)
Sui Juris = of his own right, of his own Law

"Sui something" (statement by a federal judge recently)
