I have found that those who think with their feelings as per your; "I was most impressed by these facets of this amazing quote:" also overeact to legal terms such as; defacto, unlawful, resident alien enemy and martial law for example.
Examine today's reality and compare it to the reality of the past. Today is much better thanks to our finest paper money Bankers in the world and Our Federal GOV.
It is no secret that the US Gov. is defacto or not lawful or is unlawful.
One must judge the charactor of the law that was overthrown by the US Gov. in the 1861-65 war.
One can not judge the former Republic of American States by the political propaganda spewed by politicians and taught in public schools.
In reality the underclass of people had had enough of the free white over 21 special Citizen and the federal Gov. knew it.
This 1861-65 war was a long time overdue but no one teaches such truths in public school or cites such evils in forums like this.
Logic and reason say that today's GOV. was shaped and molded to in response to past problems encountered by the people.
This GOV. has lasted much longer than the constitutional Republic.
