: I just received a summons (certified letter) from the IRS. They want me to show them my records for 1992-96.
: Are there any suggestions on how to combat this? I know that there people/organizations that might be able to help me.
: I wish I had the money to subscribe to all of the various solutions and choose that which I felt comfortable with,

Gee Carlos, just what records in particularity might they be refering to? Have you ever been directed by the Secretary [of Treasury or his delegate] to keep books and records on any revenue taxable activity that you are engaged in?
If you have not been directed to keep "books and records," then what books and records are you required, by directive or regulation, to keep? In other words, do you, in fact, have a legal obligation to maintain, retain, or disclose any books and records?
If you make an assumption that ties in with their (IRS's) presumption (actaually, words of entrapment), and it is the wrong asumption, you are dead meat.
We all need to stop making assumptions and stop making assertions, and learn to ask the questions that will keep the ball in the other guy's court.
